varios tipos del g\u00e9nero avipoxvirus. Caracterizada por la presentaci\u00f3n de un exantema vari\u00f3lico de la piel y de las mucosas de la cabeza de las gallinas.<\/p><p>La viruela aviar no es una zoonosis y no tiene relaci\u00f3n alguna con la viruela humana.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"cc-m-5769239611\" class=\"j-module n j-text \"><p>Tambi\u00e9n se la conoce como Gefl\u00fcgelpocken (alem\u00e1n), variole aviaire (franc\u00e9s), Fowl pox, contagious epithelioma y aviary diphtheria (ingl\u00e9s) y bouba (portugu\u00e9s).<\/p><p>La diftero-viruela est\u00e1 ampliamente distribuida por todo el mundo y aparece preferentemente o prevalece en los meses de oto\u00f1o e invierno, pero puede presentarse en cualquier estaci\u00f3n del a\u00f1o. Afecta a las aves de todas las edades, sexo y estirpe, e incluso se ha descrito en muchas especies salvajes.<\/p><p>Aunque la enfermedad es m\u00e1s com\u00fanmente observada en la gallina dom\u00e9stica, esta tambi\u00e9n existe en pavos, palomas, y ha sido reportada en faisanes, Ortalis (chachalacas) y canarios (se la llama enfermedad de Kikuth).\u00a0<\/p><p>La diftero-viruela, llamada tambi\u00e9n (viruela de las gallinas, epitelioma contagioso, difteria aviar y llagas en la cabeza), es una enfermedad altamente infecciosa que puede manifestarse en tres tipos: cut\u00e1neo o de la piel. Difteria o de la garganta y mixto.<\/p><p>La viruela aviar es causada por un virus filtrante llamado Borreliota avium. Durante muchos a\u00f1os se consideraron los tipos cut\u00e1neo y dift\u00e9rico de la enfermedad como afecciones fundamentales distintas y se crey\u00f3 que los agentes que las causaban eran diversas bacterias y protozoarios. Sin embargo, en 1902 Marx y Sticker demostraron que el agente causante de la viruela aviar es un germen filtrable.<\/p><p>Otra prueba de que los factores etiol\u00f3gicos de las dos afecciones son id\u00e9nticos la proporciona el hecho de que las gallinas que se curan de la difteria aviar son inmunes a la forma cut\u00e1nea de la enfermedad, y viceversa.<\/p><p>El virus de la viruela aviar es sumamente resistente a la desecaci\u00f3n y esta propiedad es la que le permite conservar su virulencia largo tiempo cuando se expone a las influencias externas. Esto lo tenemos que tener en cuenta y comprobar antes; ejemplos.<\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La avitaminosis A:<\/span> Las membranas o peque\u00f1os focos que se forman no dejan, al desprenderse, \u00falceras sangrantes.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La pseudodifteria espor\u00e1dica<\/span><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Tiene el car\u00e1cter que le da el nombre de espor\u00e1dica, apareciendo solo en una, dos o tres aves, pero nunca tendr\u00e1 el car\u00e1cter difusivo de la difteria.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La estomatitis:<\/span> producida por hongos, no suele ser frecuente ni difusa y se localiza en el es\u00f3fago, pudiendo extenderse hasta el buche.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La aspergilosis <\/span>Los revestimientos nasales tienen un color verdoso.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La coriza contagiosa:<\/span> Aunque coinciden las lesiones caseosas de los ojos, las membranas, al desprenderse, no dejan lechos ulcerosos.<\/li><\/ul><p>La aparici\u00f3n de esta enfermedad en una explotaci\u00f3n se debe a la introducci\u00f3n de animales enfermos o en periodo de incubaci\u00f3n.<\/p><p align=\"left\">El agente que determina la enfermedad es un virus de tipo filtrable, que de acuerdo con su localizaci\u00f3n en el organismo produce viruela y difteria como formas aisladas y en otros casos como forma mixta de ambas.<\/p><p align=\"left\">El virus presenta un car\u00e1cter de gran difusibilidad, siendo por ello f\u00e1cil el contagio de las aves sanas, y a la vez la diftero-viruela hace que sea una enfermedad frecuente en los gallineros.<\/p><p align=\"left\">El virus latente se encuentra en el organismo de las aves sin ponerse de manifiesto, solo cuando, por una causa ocasional, lluvias, fr\u00edos, otras enfermedades, por ejemplo los par\u00e1sitos, determinan la aparici\u00f3n de la enfermedad.<\/p><p align=\"left\">La entrada del virus en el organismo del ave puede ser por la boca, cuando toman bebida o consumen alimentos contaminados, pero la v\u00eda m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de la penetraci\u00f3n del virus es a trav\u00e9s de las erosiones de la piel producidas por picotazos, espolones o peque\u00f1as heridas que accidentalmente se producen.<\/p><p>La transmisi\u00f3n de animal a animal se hace ocasionalmente de una forma directa a trav\u00e9s de heridas de la piel o mucosas.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Los s\u00edntomas de la d\u00edptero-viruela aviar var\u00edan seg\u00fan la forma en que aparezca.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La presentaci\u00f3n puede ser de tres formas:<\/span><\/p><h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Forma cut\u00e1nea:<\/span><\/h3><p>La primera indicaci\u00f3n de la infecci\u00f3n es la aparici\u00f3n, en la cresta y las barbillas principalmente, de peque\u00f1as manchas gris\u00e1ceas vesiculares. Estas se secan pronto, formando costras que se agrandan gradualmente y pueden unirse con las lesiones adyacentes para formar una erupci\u00f3n m\u00e1s grande con aspecto de verrugas.<\/p><p>Si se levantan las costras (cosa que no debemos hacer para no propagar el virus), se ve que la superficie de debajo est\u00e1 \u00e1spera y sangrante. Estas lesiones pueden presentarse en corto n\u00famero o ser tan numerosas que cubran casi toda la piel no cubierta de plumas en la cabeza, incluyendo la cresta, barbillas, la cara, los p\u00e1rpados, los l\u00f3bulos de la oreja y las comisuras de la boca.<\/p><p>Tambi\u00e9n pueden aparecer erupciones en las patas y los dedos, alrededor del ano y debajo de las alas. Las costras que cubren las lesiones persisten durante alg\u00fan tiempo, entre tres y cuatro semanas; despu\u00e9s se desprenden gradualmente, dejando una zona gris\u00e1cea de cicatrizaci\u00f3n. Las aves afectadas por este tipo de enfermedad pueden presentar pocos trastornos, o ninguno, si la infecci\u00f3n es ligera.<\/p><p>Resumiendo, se caracteriza por la presencia de erupciones semejantes a verrugas en las partes del cuerpo desprovistas de plumas, localizadas principalmente en la cabeza y en particular en la cresta, barbillas, bordes de los p\u00e1rpados, comisuras del pico, dedos y en las patas.<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Forma dift\u00e9rica o de la garganta:<\/span><\/h3><p>La forma d\u00edptera de la enfermedad se caracteriza por la formaci\u00f3n de placas amarillentas, salientes y membranosas en la boca y la garganta. Estas porciones de tejido necr\u00f3tico est\u00e1n fuertemente adheridas, y si se levantan forz\u00e1ndolas, dejan una superficie rugosa sangrante.<\/p><p>A medida que progresa la enfermedad, las placas se hacen m\u00e1s grandes, m\u00e1s espesas y de consistencia caseosa, y a veces se extienden tanto que impiden al ave cerrar la boca.<\/p><p>La presencia de placas en la laringe o cerca de ella puede dificultar la respiraci\u00f3n y hacer que vaya acompa\u00f1ada de ruidos roncos.
