aves<\/span>, que se manifiesta con hiperplasia en los huesos largos y se clasifica dentro del conjunto de enfermedades neopl\u00e1sicas aviares. Se trata de una enfermedad poco com\u00fan, que afecta predominantemente a los gallos.<\/p><p>Su distribuci\u00f3n es global, encontr\u00e1ndose en diversas partes del mundo. Esta afecci\u00f3n surge en aves que han alcanzado edades superiores a cuatro o seis semanas y exclusivamente en los huesos largos.<\/p><p>Transcurre de manera cr\u00f3nica y su desarrollo puede extenderse por varios meses.<\/p><p>La osteopetrosis se distingue por un engrosamiento de los huesos de las extremidades y las alas, que adquieren un aspecto marmoleado. Tambi\u00e9n se observa caquexia y anemia en los afectados.<\/p><p>Los huesos involucrados presentan un aumento en su tama\u00f1o y una leve curvatura, adem\u00e1s de estar calientes al tacto, provocando dolor al ser presionados por el animal.<\/p><p>La osteoporosis, a causa del estr\u00e9s por confinamiento en la jaula, permite que los huesos sufran fracturas con facilidad y se deformen, ya que se debilitan. En cambio, en los casos de osteoporosis, las aves muestran una notable hipertrofia en las di\u00e1fisis de sus huesos de las patas, lo que dificulta que se rompan.<\/p><p>Al realizar un corte longitudinal de estos huesos, se observar\u00e1 que la cavidad medular es significativamente menor y, en ocasiones, puede estar ausente.<\/p><p>Las crestas y barbillas de las aves afectadas presentan un color p\u00e1lido a causa de la anemia que experimentan. Tienen dificultades para moverse.
