conocidas est\u00e1n<\/span> separadas por la localizaci\u00f3n geogr\u00e1fica. Tenemos la pulga com\u00fan\u00a0<em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Ceratophyllus gallinae<\/span>,<\/em>\u00a0m\u00e1s cosmopolita y europea, y la pulga llamada\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>Echidnophaga\u00a0<\/em><i>gallinacea<\/i><\/span>, que se encuentra con m\u00e1s facilidad en el continente americano, y especialmente en las zonas tropicales.\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"cc-m-5779782211\" class=\"j-module n j-text \"><p>Ambas son ectopar\u00e1sitos de las aves de corral y las aves silvestres (como palomas, estorninos y gorriones). Esta pulga, <em>Ceratophyllus gallinae,<\/em>\u00a0prefiere un clima seco.<\/p><p>La pulga de gallina o pollo, pulga popular, son, como todas las otras pulgas, par\u00e1sitos de animales de sangre caliente, pero a diferencia de las otras pulgas, son m\u00e1s selectivas sobre el hu\u00e9sped para alimentarse.<\/p><p>En ausencia del hu\u00e9sped normal, movimiento de un animal a otro en el gallinero; esperan el paso de un nuevo hu\u00e9sped, pero cuando los anfitriones predilectos no se disponen, utilizan incluso mam\u00edferos.<\/p><p>Esta especie es la m\u00e1s usual entre las pulgas de las aves de corral.<\/p><p>Los chinches y pulgas par\u00e1sitos de las gallinas suelen vivir, al igual que los \u00e1caros, en las oquedades y resquicios del gallinero.<\/p><p>Tambi\u00e9n se encuentra en las cajas (nidos artificiales) de aves, debajo de las baldosas, en los nidos, bajo los aleros. Ellas saliendo de los mismos para picar y chupar sangre, cosa que realizan preferentemente en las horas nocturnas.<\/p><p>La importancia de esta parasitaci\u00f3n por artr\u00f3podos radica en que, al cambiar de hospedador, act\u00faan en muchas ocasiones como transmisores de otras enfermedades.<\/p><p>Las parasitaciones externas son causa de estr\u00e9s y favorecen la presentaci\u00f3n de determinados problemas, siendo siempre elementos que influyen negativamente en la producci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica de los pulgas son insectos peque\u00f1os<\/span>, generalmente de dos a cuatro mm de largo. La estructura del cuerpo est\u00e1 muy adaptada al modo de vida parasitaria.<\/p><p data-iceapc=\"3\" data-iceapw=\"13\">Las pulgas son un orden de insectos aparte,\u00a0<em data-iceapw=\"1\">Siphonaptera<\/em>, con m\u00e1s de 2.000 especies y subespecies descritas.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"22\">En Noruega se detectaron 60 especies y subespecies; de ellas y relacionadas con las aves viven 40 y en los mam\u00edferos 20.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"26\">La pulga es de color <span id=\"IL_AD7\" class=\"IL_AD\">marr\u00f3n<\/span> oscuro, y var\u00eda de marr\u00f3n claro a casi negro. No tienen alas y poseen un abdomen comprimido lateralmente, quitinoso (Soulsby, 1982).<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"18\">La superficie\u00a0<span id=\"IL_AD6\" class=\"IL_AD\">brillante<\/span>\u00a0del cuerpo permite un f\u00e1cil movimiento a trav\u00e9s del pelo y plumas (Urquhart et al., 1987).<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"14\">Los ojos compuestos est\u00e1n ausentes, pero algunas especies tienen ojos simples, grandes o peque\u00f1os.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"16\">Las antenas son cortas y pueden ser cargadas por los intersticios de la cabeza de lado.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"23\">Su cuerpo est\u00e1 aplanado y se comprime desde los lados, de modo que las seis patas parecen estar unidas en un lado solamente.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"36\">Las patas son largas, fuertes y adaptadas para saltar (Soulsby, 1982). La piel alrededor de los n\u00f3dulos de la \u00falcera y los hospedadores j\u00f3venes pueden morir en el caso de infestaciones severas de pulgas.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"43\">Las heces de pulgas desempe\u00f1an un papel importante en la nutrici\u00f3n de las larvas; son esos peque\u00f1os puntos negros que, cuando el animal est\u00e1 infectado, se pueden ver entre la superficie y, al aplastarlos en un fondo blanco, dejan una mancha de sangre.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"11\">Las larvas se desarrollan en estos lugares al comer part\u00edculas org\u00e1nicas.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"37\">Los residuos de sangre de la raza adulta, es decir, el excremento parcialmente digerido, son importantes para el desarrollo de muchas especies de larvas. Las larvas tejen un capullo disfrazado con part\u00edculas en el exterior para camuflarse.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"52\">Las larvas en el capullo se convierten en pupa y a su vez en una pulga adulta. Se alimentan durante el periodo de celo de las aves, cuando est\u00e1n m\u00e1s disponibles para proporcionarles sangre de forma regular.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"20\">Cuando viene el calor de la primavera, las pulgas salen de los capullos hacia la entrada de los ponederos. Aqu\u00ed est\u00e1n listas para saltar y esperando una nueva ave, de marzo a junio.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"28\">Puede haber varios cientos de pulgas en un nido. Las pulgas saltan de las aves a los seres humanos y los gatos que perturban los sitios de anidaci\u00f3n.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"27\">Las pulgas que echan de menos al animal hu\u00e9sped van a terminar en el suelo bajo el nido y quedarse all\u00ed y esperar a los animales hu\u00e9spedes.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"37\">Cuando hay infecci\u00f3n en nuestros gallineros, las pulgas nos atacan a las piernas. Los gatos y perros suelen transportar las pulgas en ellos y llevarlas a nuestra casa y luego nos atacan a nosotros; es un ciclo.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"36\">Si la pulga no tiene aves para anidar, ellas comenzar\u00e1n a difundirse en el medio ambiente. Pueden ir hasta los troncos de los \u00e1rboles y paredes, o saltar y esconderse en el suelo bajo el nido.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"29\">Pueden entrar en la casa a trav\u00e9s de grietas en las ventanas y a trav\u00e9s de los orificios de ventilaci\u00f3n o en la ropa tendida que cuelga al aire.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"23\">Las pulgas en las aves son raras y en peque\u00f1as cantidades y casi \u00fanicamente en la primavera, que es su tiempo de dispersi\u00f3n.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"21\">Ellas quedan un corto tiempo en el ave para chupar sangre y normalmente se encuentran en grandes cantidades en el nido.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"39\">El mismo comportamiento parece aplicarse a los ataques a humanos, perros y gatos. Ellas van con la persona o animal y se encuentran a menudo en las camas, sacos de dormir y las zonas de descanso de animales.<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: left;\" data-iceapw=\"39\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\" data-iceapw=\"1\" data-iceapc=\"2\">H\u00e1bito:<\/span><\/h3><p data-iceapw=\"24\">Las pulgas adultas habitan en los nidos de las aves o p\u00e1jaros. Cuando las aves o p\u00e1jaros se marchan, deben buscarse un nuevo hu\u00e9sped.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"24\">Si el nido se vuelve a utilizar, las cris\u00e1lidas se desarrollar\u00e1n a adultos, se aparear\u00e1n y continuar\u00e1n el ciclo de cr\u00eda de nuevas pulgas.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"15\">Se pueden multiplicar de forma alarmante en corrales o criaderos, bater\u00edas de explotaci\u00f3n av\u00edcola, etc.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"40\">Hay que tener atenci\u00f3n a otros animales dom\u00e9sticos que suelen estar en contacto con aves o aves de corral. En este caso, en los mam\u00edferos, a menudo se localizan alrededor del margen del o\u00eddo externo y cerca de la nariz.<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: left;\" data-iceapw=\"2\" data-iceapc=\"3\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Tratamiento:<\/span><\/h3><p data-iceapw=\"16\">Los insecticidas recomendados para el uso son los que contienen piretro y los piretroides tipo permetrina.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"25\">Hay varias preparaciones activas en el mercado. Estos preparados tienen baja toxicidad para las personas y los mam\u00edferos, pero son muy t\u00f3xicos para los peces.<\/p><p data-iceapw=\"17\">El p\u00e9ntilo se descompone r\u00e1pidamente por la luz solar.
