Se localiza en las gl\u00e1ndulas g\u00e1stricas del ventr\u00edculo succenturiado del ave.<\/p><p>Las aves parasitadas acusan tristeza, abatimiento, inapetencia, erizamiento de las plumas y adelgazamiento.<\/p><p>Cuando el proceso es progresivo, las aves est\u00e1n inm\u00f3viles, alica\u00eddas y con trastornos digestivos como regurgitaci\u00f3n, dilataci\u00f3n del buche, diarreas de color verdoso\u2026, que suelen corresponder con una sintomatolog\u00eda de tipo obstructivo.<\/p><p>Al cabo de varias semanas, las aves se hallan delgadas y pueden morir de caquexia.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La tetramerosis<\/span> son par\u00e1sitos de aves de corral y aves silvestres que prevalece en todo el mundo. Es una enfermedad provocada por un nematodo hemat\u00f3fago, presente en las gl\u00e1ndulas del proventr\u00edculo.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">T. fissispina<\/span> se encuentra principalmente en patos y gansos salvajes y otras aves acu\u00e1ticas en varias partes del mundo, pero tambi\u00e9n se presenta en patos dom\u00e9sticos, palomas, aves, pavos, gallinas de Guinea y codornices en Europa, Asia y el Lejano Este.<\/p><p>Los miembros de este g\u00e9nero exhiben un fuerte dimorfismo sexual. Las hembras maduras son casi esf\u00e9ricas, de color rojo sangre oscuro, y tienen cuatro surcos longitudinales que corresponden a las l\u00edneas media y lateral. Los tetr\u00e1meros se encuentran enterrados en las gl\u00e1ndulas mucosas del proventr\u00edculo.<\/p><p>Los machos son peque\u00f1os, blancos y filiformes, con o sin espinas en la cut\u00edcula y la cola. El par\u00e1sito masculino generalmente est\u00e1 libre en la superficie del proventr\u00edculo, aunque puede estar presente en las gl\u00e1ndulas con la hembra para la c\u00f3pula.<\/p><p>Despu\u00e9s de la copulaci\u00f3n, los machos migran a la superficie de la membrana mucosa y mueren. El macho es de 3 a 6 mm de longitud, y sus l\u00edneas media y lateral est\u00e1n provistas de una fila longitudinal de espinas y es de color blanco.<\/p><p>La hembra mide de 2.5 a 3 mm de largo por 1 a 2 mm de ancho y es de color rojo. Los huevos tienen c\u00e1scara gruesa, miden de 48 a 56 \u03bcm por 26 a 30 huevos, al ser puestos y eliminados junto con las heces, son ingeridos por hospedadores intermediarios tales como los saltamontes, grillos, chapulines, langostas, cucarachas, etc.<\/p><p>Los huevos que una vez pasaron con excrementos eclosionan y son tragados por hu\u00e9spedes intermedios que son crust\u00e1ceos acu\u00e1ticos, <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Daphnia pulex<\/span>\u00a0y <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Gammarus pulex.<\/span> Las larvas nacen de los huevos y se desarrollan en la cavidad corporal del crust\u00e1ceo hasta la etapa infecciosa.<\/p><p>Diecis\u00e9is a veinticuatro horas despu\u00e9s de la infecci\u00f3n, las larvas de la tercera etapa se encuentran en la profundidad de la mucosa de las gl\u00e1ndulas fundamentales del proventr\u00edculo, sin evidencia de cambios patol\u00f3gicos en esta etapa.<\/p><p>Cinco d\u00edas despu\u00e9s de la infecci\u00f3n, se produce dilataci\u00f3n de la membrana de la gl\u00e1ndula y se encuentran larvas de cuarta etapa, que miden 1,65 mm de longitud.<\/p><p>A los 10 d\u00edas es evidente el dimorfismo sexual marcado; en algunas gl\u00e1ndulas se encuentran juntos machos y hembras, pero en otras solo se ven hembras; los machos est\u00e1n presentes en la membrana mucosa.<\/p><p>Para el duod\u00e9cimo d\u00eda, las hembras j\u00f3venes han experimentado aumentos considerables de tama\u00f1o y para el d\u00eda 18 solo se encuentran hembras adultas en las gl\u00e1ndulas del fondo.<\/p><p>En aves criadas en traspatio, la incidencia puede llegar al 30 % (Moreno, 1989).<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Etiolog\u00eda:<\/span><\/h3><p>Tetrameres americana es un par\u00e1sito que presenta dimorfismo sexual marcado; el macho mide 5-5.5 mm de largo y es de color blanco, en tanto que la hembra tiene forma redonda con ranuras longitudinales, mide 3.5-4.5 mm de largo por 3 mm de ancho y es de color rojo (Moreno, 1989).<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Signos cl\u00ednicos:<\/span><\/h3><p>Diarrea, anemia y emaciaci\u00f3n debido a la succi\u00f3n de sangre y tristeza. Como en la mayor\u00eda de los casos el n\u00famero de los par\u00e1sitos es reducido, los signos no se manifiestan. En casos graves, la migraci\u00f3n de los par\u00e1sitos j\u00f3venes a las gl\u00e1ndulas paraventriculares provoca una marcada irritaci\u00f3n e inflamaci\u00f3n, que puede causar la muerte de las aves por desnutrici\u00f3n. Hay baja producci\u00f3n de huevo en las aves (Moreno, 1989).<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Lesiones:<\/span><\/h3><p>Inflamaci\u00f3n, distensi\u00f3n y hemorragias del proventr\u00edculo (Moreno, 1989). Diagn\u00f3stico: Se realiza por la observaci\u00f3n del par\u00e1sito en las gl\u00e1ndulas profundas del proventr\u00edculo (Moreno, 1989), atrofia glandular y cambios inflamatorios en el proventr\u00edculo.
