gallinas<\/span>\u00a0a la p\u00e9rdida de integridad de la piel y otros tejidos. Las heridas tienen por lo general un origen traum\u00e1tico y est\u00e1n ocasionadas por la acci\u00f3n de objetos punzantes o cortantes, producidas en los gallineros, patios o instalaciones.<\/p><p>La patolog\u00eda de las heridas es sumamente variable, pues depende eminentemente de la zona afectada, de la profundidad y de los \u00f3rganos a los que afecte. La falta de integridad de la piel pone al descubierto la dermis, provoc\u00e1ndose inmediatamente una hemorragia superficial.<\/p><p>No es posible sintetizar brevemente la posible sintomatolog\u00eda de los traumatismos que pueden afectar a nuestras aves, pues mientras un corte en el dorso reviste poca importancia, una herida en el abdomen puede provocar la salida de los intestinos, con peligro inminente de peritonitis y muerte.<\/p><p>Es una lesi\u00f3n constante en las heridas, la ruptura de la dermis, aunque el alcance depender\u00e1 de la regi\u00f3n.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; background-color: transparent;\">Como detalles a valorar en las heridas, se debe tener en cuenta:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La profundidad.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La extensi\u00f3n.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La vascularizaci\u00f3n de la zona.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">La naturaleza de los bordes de la herida.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p>Como norma general, para el tratamiento de cualquier herida ser\u00e1 necesaria una desinfecci\u00f3n de la zona. Si la herida es profunda, se acercar\u00e1n los labios de la misma, previa aplicaci\u00f3n de abundantes elementos antis\u00e9pticos, y sutura si procede.<\/p><p>Si es superficial, se espolvorear\u00e1n abundantemente con sulfamidas, procurando cortar la hemorragia con compresas o mediante la acci\u00f3n de sustancias que coadyuven en la coagulaci\u00f3n.<\/p><p>La mayor\u00eda de los criadores o aficionados de gallinas, pollos, patos, pavos, etc., en sus gallineros o galpones, no tienen acceso a un veterinario dispuesto o capaz de tratar a nuestras aves heridas, por lo que cuando una gallina o ave est\u00e1 herida, la autoayuda es el \u00fanico recurso que le queda. Algunas de las siguientes medidas b\u00e1sicas de atenci\u00f3n de primeros auxilios para aves lesionadas pueden salvar sus vidas.<\/p><p>Lo principal y necesario es tener un botiqu\u00edn (caja o en un estante o repisa), siempre en el gallinero o instalaciones, igual que el que tenemos en casa, pero no hace falta que sea tan completo. Los m\u00e1s utilizados: alcohol et\u00edlico, clorhexidina, povidona, tintura de yodo, agua oxigenada y Mercromina.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Polvo astringente:<\/span>\u00a0Necesario para cauterizar heridas r\u00e1pidamente.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Blastoestimulina:<\/span>\u00a0Ayuda a la cicatrizaci\u00f3n de heridas, importante.<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Colirio:<\/span> Ampollas unidas individuales (formato monodosis).<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Suero:<\/span> Para hidratar por diarreas, quemaduras internas\u2026 (suero para beb\u00e9s con probi\u00f3ticos).<\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Suero fisiol\u00f3gico:<\/span>\u00a0Limpieza de heridas, quemaduras\u2026, etc.<\/li><\/ul><p>Todos estos art\u00edculos o productos se compran en farmacias o parafarmacias y no precisan receta m\u00e9dica. El grado de tolerancia de un ave no es el mismo que el de un mam\u00edfero, ni el del humano. No usar productos inadecuados en animales.<\/li><\/ul><p>Cuando nuestras gallinas, patos, gansos o cualquiera de nuestros animales de corral sufren una herida, iremos a nuestro botiqu\u00edn de primeros auxilios, buscando algo que pueda ayudarlos.<\/p><p>En muchos casos no sabremos qu\u00e9 producto es m\u00e1s efectivo, o nos llega informaci\u00f3n de aplicar productos o remedios caseros que supuestamente son mucho m\u00e1s efectivos.<\/p><p>Esto es algo muy frecuente entre las preguntas que recibo, por eso hago este post como ayuda a distinguir cu\u00e1l es m\u00e1s eficaz, el uso de ciertos productos y cu\u00e1ndo no deben usarse.<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00bfAlcohol o agua oxigenada?<\/span><\/h3><p>Pues fijaros, ninguno de los dos, aunque suene sorprendente y nos desarme todas las ideas que ten\u00edamos desde ni\u00f1os, tanto el alcohol como el agua oxigenada est\u00e1n actualmente contraindicados para los primeros auxilios de una herida; esa es la realidad.<\/p><p>\u00bfY qu\u00e9 razones hay para ello? Muy sencilla, y quiz\u00e1 lo entend\u00e1is recordando el ardor y escozor en la piel despu\u00e9s de poner alguna de estas sustancias, ya que da\u00f1a los tejidos y retrasa su recuperaci\u00f3n.<\/p><p>\u00bfPero para algo servir\u00e1n? Pues claro, son buenos desinfectantes. Son capaces de eliminar un gran porcentaje de microorganismos (bacterias, virus, hongos\u2026) sobre superficies, piel intacta (que no ha sufrido alteraci\u00f3n o da\u00f1o), utensilios u objetos, teniendo una eficacia considerable. Poniendo como ejemplo el uso del alcohol en centros de salud y hospitales, cuando nos limpian la piel antes de las inyecciones o an\u00e1lisis de sangre.<\/p><p>Aunque estos dos productos indispensables son buenos desinfectantes, no son buenos antis\u00e9pticos. Al ser poco eficaces en la eliminaci\u00f3n de g\u00e9rmenes en tejidos, especialmente en heridas abiertas y mucosas, ya que la reacci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica por la que act\u00faan es desactivada al contacto con tejidos vivos en gran medida.<\/p><p>Lo que hacen bien es que desinfectan en superficie, pero en profundidad muy poco. Adem\u00e1s, no distinguen entre g\u00e9rmenes y c\u00e9lulas de los tejidos de la herida, agrediendo a ambos por igual. Por eso precisamente escuecen, porque est\u00e1n irritando tambi\u00e9n a nuestros propios tejidos, pues a nuestras gallinas o aves les pasa lo mismo.<\/p><p>En el caso del agua oxigenada, se desaconseja su uso en heridas abiertas, porque tambi\u00e9n lastima los tejidos, ya que las burbujas que pueden producirse al entrar en contacto con la piel ocultan la destrucci\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas sanas.<\/p><p>El agua oxigenada la usaremos cuando una herida est\u00e1 sumamente infectada, donde hay mucho tejido muerto, que debemos raspar para limpiar adecuadamente la herida, o para el ablandamiento y levantado de costras. Despu\u00e9s de quitar todos esos restos, hay que usar un spray o pomada antibi\u00f3tica para comenzar a tratar la infecci\u00f3n.<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00bfPara qu\u00e9 usamos el yodo \u2013 povidona yodada?<\/span><\/h3><p>Uno de los antis\u00e9pticos de uso t\u00f3pico m\u00e1s frecuentes y de amplio espectro microbiano son las soluciones a base de <span style=\"color: #000000;\">povidona yodada<\/span>. Es uno de los condimentos tradicionales m\u00e1s usados en la cocina mediterr\u00e1nea; los pa\u00edses de habla inglesa aborrecen el ajo culinariamente, pero s\u00ed que lo usan medicinalmente.<\/p><p>La relaci\u00f3n humana con el ajo aparece en los escritos; como en un papiro egipcio de 1600 antes de Cristo, se menciona un alzamiento de los esclavos que edificaban una pir\u00e1mide, al no recibir suficiente ajo y cebolla en la alimentaci\u00f3n diaria.<\/p><p>Sabiendo hoy en d\u00eda lo que presagiaban nuestros ancestros, que el ajo aumenta nuestra resistencia y capacidad de trabajo cuando se consume habitualmente.<\/p><p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00bfQu\u00e9 componentes tiene el ajo?<\/span><\/strong> Podemos encontrar desde vitaminas (A, grupo B, C), sustancias de actividad hormonal, enzimas e incluso trazas de azufre y yodo; sin embargo, el componente m\u00e1s notorio del ajo es su aceite arom\u00e1tico (0,1-0,3 %), que consta de 14 sustancias diferentes, entre las que destaca la alicina (compuesto azufrado), responsable de su olor, pero tambi\u00e9n de todos sus efectos medicinales.<\/p><p>El ajo ha sido usado siempre por sus efectos medicinales hist\u00f3ricamente. Ya Hip\u00f3crates (el padre de la medicina) lo menciona contra el estre\u00f1imiento, la erisipela y las infecciones rectales. Diosc\u00f3rides lo aconseja contra la ca\u00edda del cabello y contra los piojos. Plinio lo prescrib\u00eda contra la hidropes\u00eda, la gota, el sarampi\u00f3n, la tos y la esterilidad. Y Avicena lo indicaba para usar contra hemorroides y problemas reum\u00e1ticos.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00bfCu\u00e1les son las cualidades del ajo que destacan?<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Antimicrobiana:<\/span>\u00a0El ajo, en el organismo de las gallinas, combate a una gran variedad de g\u00e9rmenes e inhibe el crecimiento y desarrollo de una gran cantidad de virus, bacterias, hongos (ataca a las candidiasis) y lombrices intestinales. Protege de las enfermedades respiratorias, adem\u00e1s de que el ajo ayuda m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidamente a las aves a reponerse de una enfermedad.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Aparato circulatorio:<\/span> El ajo ejerce un efecto regulador sobre los l\u00edpidos o grasas de la sangre. Es una de las plantas m\u00e1s usadas en la cosm\u00e9tica y tratamientos de la piel. Para utilizarla en nuestras aves es muy sencillo, por ejemplo para la viruela, partimos una hojita de aloe vera a la mitad y se unta la parte babosa o cristalina en la cara, cresta o en donde tenga la viruela, sec\u00e1ndose muy r\u00e1pido, y como siempre que andemos con virus, eliminamos las hojitas utilizadas, para no propagarlos.<\/p><p>Las patas de nuestras gallinas tambi\u00e9n le ayudan a limpi\u00e1rselas o, si el ave tiene callos, se le pone aloe vera machacada con un vendado no muy apretado.
