Viral Diseases:
Process viral characteristic of birds, which is manifested by hyperplasia in the long bones, and is classified within the group of neoplastic diseases of poultry. It is a rare disease, that predominantly affects the roosters.
Its distribution is global, found in various parts of the world. This condition arises in birds that have reached ages over four or six weeks and exclusively in the long bones.
Proceeds chronic and its development can be extended by several months.
Osteopetrosis is characterized by thickening of the bones in the limbs and wings, which take on a marbled appearance. Cachexia and anemia are also observed in affected individuals.
The involved bones show an increase in size and a slight curvature, in addition to being warm to the touch, causing pain to be pressed by the animal.
Osteoporosis, due to the stress of confinement in the cage, which allows the bones to suffer fractures easily and distorted, as they weaken. In contrast, in the cases of osteoporosis, the birds show a remarkable hypertrophy in the diaphysis of the bones of the legs, which makes it more difficult to break.
When you make a longitudinal cut of these bones, you will notice that the medullary cavity is significantly lower and, at times, may be absent.
The crests and wattles of the oiled birds have a pale because of anemia that experience. Have difficulties to move around. This disease follows a course relatively slow, which culminates in a limp and, eventually, on the death of the bird.
